A Closer Look at How Marketers Are Using Social Media [Infographic Friday]

Using social media in the business context was initially met with great resistance, particularly from those in Generation X loyal to traditional marketing methods. Over the past decade or so, there has been a monumental shift—according to results of the 2012 Annual SEOmoz Industry Survey “44.4% of survey respondents self-professed either “advanced” or “expert” level social media ability.” As research attesting to the effectiveness of social marketing continues to emerge, it’s clear that these marketing methods may have the ability to drive some traditional marketing methods to extinction. What’s more, marketers have displayed interest in broadening their social media capabilities through analytics options and social media management tools. If the drastic shifts in the social landscape over the past decade are any indication of what’s to come, then I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future of marketing.
