Mark Your Calendars: Michelle Larter Chats #DSChange Dec. 9

Dear Direct Selling companies, representatives, and customers: Michelle Larter, our  Worldwide Sales Director of Direct Selling Solutions, wants to talk #DSChange with YOU.

On Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1-2 p.m. EST, Michelle will take center stage in a Twitter Q&A to discuss the changing face of direct selling. To join, tweet your questions or insights to @mlarter using the #DSChange hashtag.

Michelle will be at the Direct Selling Association’s Be Connected Conference Dec. 3-5. She also will take questions about the Twitter chat and changes in direct selling at the conference. If you plan to attend, make sure you visit the IMN booth and meet Michelle.

Below are some questions Michelle wants to ask you:

  • Why did you become a direct seller? Why did you stay in direct selling?
  • What social media platform do you prefer to use in your business and why?
  • What direct selling stereotypes hurt your ability to sell your products or be an expert in your field?

Technology advances and consumers get savvier, so direct selling strategies and tactics must adapt. Increased diversity in gender, age, ethnicity, and background for direct selling representatives and customers puts a greater emphasis on consistent, personal contact that builds a community around the product.

“Traditional direct selling stereotypes no longer ring true,” Larter says. “Half of all direct selling representatives today have busy households with young children. Plus, one out of four is male.”

The Twitter chat gives direct selling companies an opportunity to understand their representatives’ lives better, including their triumphs in the digital space and their struggles to cut through the noise.

The Q&A also allows direct selling representatives to ask Michelle, a leading industry expert, what the changing industry means for their businesses.

“I look forward to a lively back-and-forth with participants,” Michelle says. “Hopefully they will feel empowered to adapt their businesses to meet future challenges.”
